These kind of recommendations make me wonder what's going on behind the scenes between software companies and 'independent' assessors. There's an ongoing investigation into price fixing within the DSA process, and whether the taxpayer is getting good value for money. I'd be interested to know what justification the assessor has stated for how all this software will help manage studying with depression and anxiety - most of it seems completely unrelated to the issues and symptoms arising from those conditions. so without knowing what issue you need to work with it's hard to make any concrete recommendation. It accommodates dyslexia as it doesn't correct what you pour in and so long as you're consistent you are always able to navigate your way back to the knowledge.īut it depends :shrug because you gave examples of software that helps with speech and hearing. This software helps with ADHD, anxiety, and for those with difficulty focusing. The note taking is in the form of a daily diary, but the knowledge you pour in each day contributes to the total knowledge you can access. The beauty and power of them is that they are massively linkable to other thoughts, and this creates a graph of knowledge that later is trivial to navigate which then helps with recall.

These are a kind of note taking software where you mostly express your thoughts as bullet points. * (free version you host on your own laptop) It helps avoid anxiety later, and shows progress sooner. I manage people who are usually neurodivergent and the most helpful software I can offer them is something that supports organising what they're learning and need to access later. Really depends on what you're trying to address. I'd recommend downloading them all for now (I didn't have any noticeable slow down on my laptop), and give them all a go until you find what works best for you I was very grateful to get what I did, it just turned out that it didn't work as well for me as anticipated, and I couldn't know that until I tried them!

I only used BiH for the traffic light system, and that didn't work for me personally since, when I'm feeling bad enough to click red, the last thing I want is a random stranger contacting me! I think audio notetaker is probably the only one I'd use going forward - the only reason I didn't use it before is my uni recorded all lectures as standard anyway, so I had no need to record things myself. I tried using Brain in Hand and Mindview, but I already had a spreadsheet system in place which covered all the necessary functionality for Mindview and most of Brain in Hand. I got given a few (Audio Notetaker, Brain in Hand, Mindview) and to be honest I rarely used them. I'm wary about slowing down my laptop by downloading so much software onto it.

like reading out text.Įxamples I have been offered for depression and anxiety are ClaroRead Plus, Dragon, Audio Notetaker, Inspiration, and Brain in Hand. And which you rarely use, or which MS Word already does a fine job at. I'd be grateful to hear people's experiences/opinions about which of the software offered by DSA you have found the most useful, which you use the most, which are most practical, etc.
